Real Wedding: A New York State of Mind

A chic steak house gets further fancified for Anna and Michael’s NYC wedding. Intimate, with an emphasis on food. And (somewhat) non-traditional. Planner Jeanenne La Bella took Anna and Michael’s keywords and ran with them, cooking up a celebration that was a perfect blend of tradition with a dash of quirk. The recipe began with the venue — Catch Steak, a restaurant in New York City’s Meatpacking District, to which Jeanenne added a lucite chuppah, masses of white florals, candles and chandeliers for the ceremony setting. “The wedding was designed with modern simplicity in mind,” Jeanenne said.

Guests exited the ceremony through a hall lined with draping and florals that ombréed from pure wedding whites to jewel-tone brights that matched the color palette in the dining area. “Some of the tables weren’t large enough for centerpieces and food, so we suspended the florals over the tables,” Jeannene said. During dinner, “We turned the ceremony space into the dance space, with sparkling disco balls, large silver and gold foil balls and chandeliers from the ceremony. Each step we took to completing the production was done with intention.”
