Rachel Horvath and KC Eboh’s Hudson Valley wedding was a double attraction — featuring both Western and Nigerian ceremonies in a lively blending of cultures.

Like so many other Covid-era weddings, KC and Rachel’s, originally planned for October, was rescheduled for May. But instead of scrapping Rachel’s vision for a rich, autumnal color palette, planner Victoria Lartey-Williams of Victorious Events NYC suggested replacing a few darker shades of burgundy with the likes of coral and dusty rose.
Rachel and KC met as freshman athletes on day one of preseason at New York University, becoming close friends "with a little flirting." By sophomore year, after trying to set up two friends, they began dating each other “and the rest was history,” the couple tells us.

The upper tier of the property leads to the entrance to the ceremony setting, where concrete vessels were filled with eucalyptus and garden roses, hydrangea and delphinium. Flower-filled lanterns dotted the aisle, with a bed of rose petals carpeting its length.

Choosing the same spot for their wedding was a no-brainer. "We were inspired by our trips upstate during our dating years," Rachel says. "We wanted our wedding weekend to reflect these memories of reprieve and charm."

"It was important to incorporate the history of Troutbeck — which was at different moments a poet’s retreat, publishing house and host of early civil rights thinkers and activists — into the wedding," Rachel says. "My mom found old books written by some of the venue’s past guests (Thoreau, Emerson, Hughes) and hand-painted the covers to turn them into table numbers for the reception tables."
