Real Wedding: Chloe & Mathieu’s Romantic Fairy Tale in the South of France

Chloe and Mathieu’s wedding at Château de Sannes was a romantic, modern celebration set against the natural beauty of Provence. Rather than compete with the 1603 countryside estate, the design enhanced its existing charm, from the French gardens and reflective pond to the towering cypress trees and historic architecture. For the ceremony, the couple chose a shaded setting beside the water, where a custom floral hollow arch created a sculptural, intimate altar that framed the landscape beautifully. A winding aisle lined with organic florals added to the effortless garden feel, allowing the ceremony to feel naturally rooted in its surroundings.

The reception carried that same sense of luxury into the evening with layered, immersive details. During cocktail hour around the château’s garden pool, unexpected head vases filled with fresh florals and climbing arrangements along the pool house columns blended the floral design seamlessly into the architecture. Dinner was designed with a balance of whimsy and elegance, featuring suspended foliage and candlelight floating above the tables and dance floor. Tables were layered with romantic arrangements, fresh fruit, glowing candles, and dimensional textures, while the head table made a dramatic statement with cascading florals spilling effortlessly from each end.

One of the most memorable details was the couple’s interactive floating candle escort display. Each guest’s name and table number was written in hand calligraphy on a candle, which they collected on the way to dinner and released into the pond. As the evening unfolded, the water became illuminated with candlelight, transforming a seating assignment into a participatory design moment. Other standout touches included Provençal welcome baskets filled with local sweets, rosé from the château’s own vineyards, and a custom playlist QR code, as well as late-night pizzas served in printed boxes that matched the wedding stationery. To end the celebration in true French fashion, Chloe and Mathieu served a towering croquembouche, over three feet tall, made with vanilla and pistachio cream choux.
