Leading up to her televised wedding special, Nick & Vanessa's Dream Wedding, Vanessa Minnillo tweeted about the top 10 tips she learned while wedding planning. Check them out:vanessa minnillo wedding tip

We agree! It's so hard to tell from seeing a dress on a hanger what it'll look like on you. And you may find yourself falling in love with a princess ballgown when you originally had your mind set on a sleek sheath. Need some ideas? Check out our gown gallery, where you can browse hundreds of designer dresses!

We're sure her matron of honor thanked her for that! When incorporating colors, one idea we love is to choose flowers that contrast the color of the dress. It makes both colors stand out in a beautiful way.

So true! These days, grooms expect to have a larger hand in the wedding plans. My husband was much more opinionated about our wedding plans than I thought he would be. And our Budget Guru's fiancé has even blogged for us about his perspective on the wedding plans! Talk to your groom and ask him what he cares most about for the wedding, and let him focus on those ideas. My husband couldn't care less about flowers, but he was very vocal when it came to picking the music, venue, and photographer.

Personalized embroidered beach towels may be out of the budget for most of us, but we love these budget-friendly ideas to create memorable welcome bags.

We know that wedding planning can get crazy—especially in the last few months. That's why we love these 20 ways to de-stress before the big day.

OK, I admit that it never even crossed my mind to not use the place settings and glassware provided by my venue... why spend extra when you don't have to? Place settings are on the list of wedding details you don't need to worry about.

I absolutely agree with having more than one photographer. For my wedding, I had two photographers and two videographers. No matter how great your photographer may be, no one can be in two places at once, so it's extremely helpful to have a second person to capture alternate angles. Starting your photographer search? One surefire way to guarantee that guests will complain about your wedding? Make them sweat through a long, hot ceremony in the blinding sun. Aside from AC and/or fans (we recommend BOTH!), here are a few more ideas to keep your guests from melting.

Especially if you aren't writing your own vows or seeing each other before the ceremony, a great way to start the day is by sending him a little memento before you walk down the aisle. Write him a letter telling him how excited you are to be marrying him and starting your future together. It'll be a great keepsake to look back on in the years to come.vanessa minnillo wedding tip

Agreed—don't sweat the small stuff! The morning of my wedding, I just kept telling myself, "whatever happens, happens." Whether there's a place setting missing from a table (which happened), a bridesmaid spills something on her dress right before the ceremony (also happened), or grandma gets lost on the way and misses the ceremony (yep, also happened!), a lot will occur that's outside of your control. Some can be easily fixed, others not so much. But at the end of the day, you'll still be married to the love of your life, and that's really all that matters.
