Can’t decide between having your wedding on a beach, in an elegant ballroom overlooking the ocean, in a chapel or under a canopy of flowing Spanish moss? Sea Island has it all. Generations of brides and grooms have joined together their families on this historic private resort island off the coast of Georgia, where you’ll find a range of accommodations and a lengthy list of activities — from skeet shooting to five-star dining — to keep everyone on the invite list happy. It’s hard to pick a top ceremony spot, but some of our favorites include the Avenue of Oaks, where the stunning ancient trees can be adorned with floral arrangements, wood lanterns or crystal chandeliers; and the private beach, where couples can follow tradition and bury a bottle of bourbon upside down a month before the wedding — to ward off bad omens and disruptive weather — then dig it up for a post-ceremony celebratory toast. Other choices include several beautiful lawns, courtyards and ballrooms, the Cloister Chapel and even a wine cellar (room rates start at $395 a night; seaisland.com).
