After nearly 10 years together, Angelina Jolie, 39, and Brad Pitt, 50, are husband and wife! The actor/director humanitarians tied the knot at Chateau Miraval, their estate in France, over the weekend with only 22 guests in attendance.
Jolie walked down the aisle with two of their sons, Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10. Daughters Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, served as flower girls, while daughter Shiloh, 8, and son Knox, 6, carried the rings.
The six children have been open about their desire for their parents to get married. The bride tells People that if it were up to them, the wedding theme would have been Disney or paintball!
In a recent interview with Elle, Jolie opened up about how she and Pitt "drive each other beautifully crazy": "After all these years, we have history—and when you have history with somebody, you’re friends in such a very real, deep way that there’s such a comfort, and an ease, and a deep love that comes from having been through quite a lot together.”
It was a whirlwind romance from the very beginning. In January 2006, after only a few months of dating, Angelina requested to change the last names of her adopted children from Jolie to Jolie-Pitt, and Brad's adoption of Maddox and Zahara was finalized soon after.
She tells Vanity Fair: "After my last divorce, I said I was absolutely going to marry somebody in another field, an aid worker or something. Then I met Brad, everything I wasn't looking for, but the best man, the best father I could possibly wish for, you know?"
Brad never felt like he needed to rush into marriage with Angelina. He expressed this sentiment in an interview with the Daily Mirror: "I am in love and I have the most beautiful family. What else can a guy want? I am the happiest man ever."
Pitt popped the question back in April 2012 with a tablet-shaped 16 carat diamond that he designed with jeweler Robert Procop.
Mr. and Mrs. Pitt will star in the upcoming indie film By The Sea together, and the bride tells Extra that it'll be very different from Mr. and Mrs. Smith: "It's the kind of movie we love, but aren't often cast in," she says of the small, experimental flick.
Congratulations to the happy newlyweds!
UPDATE: A source tells E! News that the bride's dress was "very traditional, but very Angie, it was comfortable but plain white floor-length antique lace and silk." She accessorized it with a small gold locket with a photo of her mom inside it, along with a veil (when her husband lifted it, he reportedly gasped because of how beautiful she looked!)
The newlyweds' sons wore cream linen suits to match their dad's tux, and the girls picked out their own dresses, which they had specially made for the joyous occasion.
