Matthew and Shabnam were neighbors, but they didn't meet until after four years of living next door from one another! They finally struck up a conversation one day after observing that they were both wearing iron rings (which is customary for engineer graduates in Canada).

Shabnam and Matthew tied the knot on April 12, 2014 in a sophisticated multicultural affair with 50 loved ones in attendance. The Canadian couple chose the historic Hycroft Manor as their venue because of its versatility.

After returning from their proposal trip to Jamaica, Matthew took his bride-to-be to Maison Birks so they could pick out her engagement ring and a wedding band together. "He bought my favorite ring — a round-cut diamond set in a halo — and I love how sparkly it is," the bride says.

Just a few days after getting engaged, Shabnam decided to shop for her wedding dress.

The bride's cascading bouquet was created by Hassan Aghamohseni from Tala Florist and it showcased a mix of hot pink and white peonies, freesia, ranunculus and jasmine.

The bride's crowning glory was a dazzling tiara that she found at a local boutique in Vancouver.
