Jennifer Zweben says that she met her future husband, Steven Risack, “when she was not expecting it and not looking for it,” at a gathering of friends at a rooftop bar in Manhattan. After an eight-month-long engagement, the couple married at the Doral Arrowwood in Westchester County. Jennifer and Steven knew it would make the perfect venue for friends and family from New York City, which is an easy drive or train ride away, and for out-of-town guests who could stay at the hotel for the weekend.

Instead of the traditional rows of chairs, the couple decided on a circle, so they were “surrounded by everyone." Jennifer and Steven personalized their ceremony with signature music. “For our walk back up the aisle, we chose ‘Signed, Sealed and Delivered,' by Stevie Wonder. It was modern and fun.”

“I chose to have my two brothers as my ‘men of honor.’ I don’t have sisters, and my brothers were always the closest people to me. I really wanted them to be in the bridal party—it was fun having them pose with the girls for the photos," says Jennifer. The bridesmaids chose the navy-blue version of their wrap dresses, designed by Ariane Goldman of Two Birds Bridesmaid.

The couple had a traditional Jewish ceremony, with a modern twist; their DJ played “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve as the bride walked down the aisle. They exchanged vows beneath a flower-strewn chuppah. After their first dance, guests danced the hora. “But that,” Jennifer says, “was all that was traditional. The rest of the time was spent dancing, mingling— and celebrating!”

The wedding cake, topped by white peonies, had a whimsical appliqué design. "We partied until one a.m. At midnight, the Doral served little chocolate doughnuts to go with coffee and tea. It was a great way to top things off!” says Jennifer.
