It's Official: George Clooney is Engaged!

Shocker! George Clooney, Hollywood's most infamous bachelor, is trading in his "silver fox" status to soon-to-be husband.

After seven months of dating, the 52-year-old actor is engaged to girlfriend Amal Alamuddin, 36, an international law attorney. Entertainment Tonight was the first media outlet to confirm the exciting news, reporting that she was sporting a telltale ring on Thursday while the pair dined with pals Cindy Crawford and Edward Norton at Nobu.

Although Clooney's had a string of serious, high-profile romances, a source tells Us Weekly that he's finally met his perfect match in Alamuddin: "This is the healthiest relationship I've ever seen George in. "He seems incredibly happy, and Amal is such a sweet and intelligent girl, who has her own thoughts and ideas and doesn't just bow down to everything he says."

Clooney has been quoted numerous times throughout the years about his disinterest in marriage (he was previously wed to actress Talia Blasam in 1989). In January, he told The Express that "This fascination with my love life is really something. I keep saying I'll never get married again or have children but people just don't want to believe me."

Never say never? Congratulations to the happy couple! Check out more Celebrity Engagement Predictions for 2014.

UPDATE: New details from the proposal and Alamuddin's stunning ring are in! On April 22, Clooney popped the question in gentlemanly fashion: on bended knee. He presented his ladylove with an ethically mined emerald-cut diamond that's estimated to be over seven carats; see People.com's exclusive photo of the ring.
