Wedding Weight-Loss: Sweating for the Wedding

Last weekend, I had another amazing workout with Bonne Marcus — and my fiancé Rene joined us this time. We were able to work out outside again, which was so nice, and Rene got to play with all of the new toys I had the pleasure of working with the week before. Bonne incorporated a few new moves, including an exercise where we went across the tennis court doing walkouts into planks the whole way down (it hurts!). We threw medicine balls down, which is a great workout for the triceps, and did tons of moves on the Bosu ball and Equalizer bars. We also did a lot of lunges and rows with resistance bands, which really work both the legs and back.

I’m also obsessed with this new shirt my mom got me — “Sweating for the Wedding.” So fitting, right?! She ordered it from a shop on Etsy, and they have it in all different colors.

I was getting sick of eating the same meals (especially breakfast) over and over again, so I’ve been trying some new things recently. My favorite meal this week — and Rene would definitely agree — was our baked turkey egg cups for breakfast. I found the recipe on Pinterest, and it's actually from The Biggest Loser. All you do is spray a muffin tin with olive oil, put in a piece of turkey breast, add a tablespoon of salsa, three tablespoons of liquid egg whites, a drop of fat-free shredded cheddar cheese, and bake for 12 minutes. I let them cool down and get hard, then separated them into plastic bags with two in each one so we could take them for breakfast. They have only 70 calories each, and they're super easy to make, filling, and absolutely delicious. My coworkers who saw me heating them up couldn’t believe how good they looked, so I highly recommend trying them this week.

This past Sunday, Rene and I had our engagement photos taken. Amanda from Complete Wedding Packages came with us into Manhattan and took our photos in Central Park. I wore awesome shoes from Aldo, jeans, a black tank top, white blazer, and a statement necklace. I had my makeup done at M.A.C., my girlfriend and hair stylist Gina blew out my hair, and I was very happy with the way I looked.

We had such an awesome time taking the photos, and I am super excited to see how they turn out. Plus, I really need to send out my save the dates — time is flying! I really do recommend for all brides and their future husbands to do an engagement photo session if it’s in the budget. We really got to know our photographer, Amanda, who will also be our photographer for the wedding, and it helped us become very comfortable in front of the camera. It’s a great chance to “practice” for the wedding, and your photographer gets a chance to get to know the couple and the amazing ways to show you off in the photos. Once I get some photos back, I’ll be sure to give you a sneak peak!

Although I was happy with the way I looked, I still was a little conscious of my body during the photo shoot. I’m obviously still not where I want to be weight-wise, but it helped me realize that if I want to be 100% comfortable the day of the wedding, I need to buckle down and get the rest of the weight off.

This week, I am looking forward to dress shopping on Sunday at Kleinfeld! I can’t wait to update you all next week on how it goes. Wish me luck!
