The diamonds and gemstones featured in Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels collection are literally the most dazzling and opulent pieces of jewelry that we've ever laid eyes on. Cure your royal-wedding fever with a look at a few of our favorites.
By: Mary GillenSotheby's swanky NYC location is hosting its Magnificent Jewels auction on December 5, where they will be presenting examples of the world’s most sought-after jewels and gemstones. We obviously can't afford any of them on an editor's salary, but that doesn't mean we can't look, right? The sale is headlined by spectacular diamonds in a variety of hues and shapes, including an exquisite 5.69 carat Fancy Vivid Blue Diamond and an extremely rare 110.92 carat round diamond (see it here on our Instagram) - the largest round diamond to be offered at auction. Other notable items up for sale include a variety of vibrant colored gemstones (rubies, emeralds and sapphires) and vintage bracelets and brooches.
