Tip of the Day: "We've all been there, looking intently at the best man, maid of honor, or parents of the newly married couple as they grab the microphone for their speech and then....flop! Either they have already had too much to drink, they are nervous as can be or think they need to make guests feel like they are at a comedy club," says Brian Perry from Perryfield Films.
His best advice for speech givers at the wedding is to follow the 80/20 rule. The majority of the toast should be heartfelt, and about the couple. The other 20% can (quickly) address the speech giver's history with the bride or groom — this is your chance to throw in a funny yet relatable story.
