Little did he know that Esther had planned a surprise party for the same night! Esther won the battle of where to eat dinner, and surprise party went off without a hitch. Jesse decided that he couldn't wait any longer to pop the question, so he asked Esther to take a walk. Suddenly, it started pouring. "He grabbed my hand and pulled me under the closest overhang to keep dry," said Esther. "There, he dropped down on one knee in the rain, right in front of a swanky home for the elderly. We still chuckle about it now." The wedding took place exactly three years after their first date.
