A few years after Amanda and Han met through mutual friends, they were engaged. The couple strove for a Hacienda theme that reflected the Mexican flavor of their destination wedding.

The bride says of choosing the Now Sapphire Riviera resort in Cancún as their venue: “Growing up in Texas, I always had an affinity for Mexico. Now Sapphire’s Mayan-influenced design really captured the local aesthetic.” Mexican culture was further realized in the local flora that was used, the Mayans that performed a ritual during the ceremony, as well as the fire-dance show and mariachi band performances.

The couple opted for a color palette of gold, cream and navy with pops of pink so as not to distract from the turquoise water that enveloped them. “Our wedding was a day of epic proportions,” they say.

The beachfront ceremony included a floral-festooned canopy draped with chiffon and chairs adorned with vibrant pink fans — providing a pop of color against the neutral-hued décor.

The couple also incorporated the bride’s Texan roots and the groom’s Korean background: Cowboy boots played a starring role in the bridal party attire and horseshoes served as party favors.

The resort’s island-chic design was the perfect backdrop for the Hacienda-themed wedding. The reception tables featured cream-colored beaded overlays, opulent brass candelabras and potted cacti.
