Super Travel Deals

My business card may reflect the fact that I'm an expert in all things travel, but it doesn’t mean I know every.single.teeney.detail about booking your best vacation. In fact, sometimes I learn a few things from fellow plane passengers.

Yesterday, for example, on a chicken bus flight (seriously, the crew was so bad they actually miscalculated the flying time, among other weirdo service snafus), I was seated next to a guy who has seen more countries in the past few months than I have in the last two years. We swapped stories about our favorites, and he gave me the gossip on one of his top travel websites—SellOffVacations.com.

Tours, like cruises, don’t like to operate on low occupancy, which means they often offer last minute deals for—repeat after me—C H E A P. My fellow flyer had mentioned he scored a trip to India for $999, including airfare, meals and lodging, as well as an equally awesome price on a 17-day trek around Morocco. Just a quick look at the site myself and I found an all-inclusive 4-night package to the Bahamas for $299 at a four star hotel. Yowzas! The only hitch? Most flights leave from Canada. Got to SellOffVacations.com for more info.

Keep, Toss, or Update: Wedding Traditions

They are the iconic memories from weddings: The garter toss, the cake cutting. These are traditions. Like them or not, you’re likely to see many at any wedding you attend. But times have changed and some more modern, possible future traditions are becoming more and more popular. So when should you go the traditional route and when is an update A-okay?

1. Cake cutting

In my opinion, the formal cake cutting is key—minus the face-smashing, that is. One way to update this tradition that dates back decades is to have a private cake cutting with just you and the groom. Keeping it between the two of you is not the norm, but pretty much the entire day is shared with family and friends and it could be a sweet way to get some one-on-one time.

Creepy or Cool: Wedding Photos in a Cemetery?

Thomas and Patricia were married on Halloween with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. The Burtonesque details certainly added to the spook factor of their Halloween wedding! After the ceremony, the couple and their bridal party headed to a cemetery for some photos. What do you think—cool or creepy (or both!)?
