Keep in mind that the wedding is an entry into the rest of your life, and the rest of your life is much more important," says Sharon Gilchrest O'Neill, a licensed marriage and family therapist and the author of A Short Guide to a Happy Marriage.

Tip of the Day: Decide in advance who you would like to give toasts at your wedding and ask them several weeks ahead of time. "Putting someone on the spot who hasn't prepared anything or isn't comfortable with public speaking creates a stressful situation for all involved," says event planner Karen Brown. When someone is prepared their speech will surely be more thoughtful and sentimental for the wedding couple.
