While in the grand scheme of things, the color palette I choose will not make or break my wedding, it will be an opportunity to set the scene and determine the “feel” I want my wedding to have. I’ve been debating long and hard about a color scheme that would best suit my big day…and I still don’t have an answer. Feel like helping a girl out?
First, let me tell you a little bit about the venue: it’s got sleek, hardwood floors and exposed plumbing on the ceiling. There are ivory twinkle lights hanging over the ceremony space and strung upon beams in the reception area. I also have the option of shining a color of my choice up along the walls. This space is really conducive to almost any color scheme.
Here are some more things I’m keeping in mind: I will have white, ivory or black tablecloths and either white or black chairs at the reception. My fiancé Corey also wants to wear a black tux.
These are my top contenders!
Option #1: All shades of purple + slate + ivory

I feel that purple is a royal color. It’s elegant, classy, warm or cool, depending on the shade. Paired with the slate, I think this would be a great, classic combination. The ivory would play an accent role, particularly with the flowers, and the slate would be included in subtle details like the invitation text or bridal party accessories.
Option #2: Deep Violet + Sea Foam Blue + Silver + Ivory

I like the idea of featuring a shade of blue in our color palette not only because my fiancé has gorgeous blue eyes (he does), but also because there are tons of ways to incorporate this hue throughout the wedding. I am also worried that option #1 would be too bland.
Option #3. Deep violet + fig + gold + ivory

This seems like a warmer color palette. One reason I like it is because there are tons of gold-colored items that would make great centerpieces. I like the warmth that the fig and gold add to the royal violet as well.
Option #4: Lavender + taupe + bronze + ivory

This color scheme is inspired by many neutral color-based weddings I’ve seen becoming a trend. The difference here: I don’t prefer pink and neither does the fiancé. So, I’ve replaced the typical dusty pink with a lavender shade. I haven't seen this color palette at a wedding before, but I think it could really play up the romantic feel we’re going for and work well with the ivory twinkle lights.
Option #5: Navy + gold + ivory + dusty pink

Okay, there’s the pink. The only reason I’ve made it a part of this color scheme is because I know I’d want at least some color in the flowers and not many navy or gold blooms occur in nature. My mom’s worried that this color scheme will end up looking nautical. I, however, like the formal navy and gold mixed with the airiness of an ivory and dusty pink.
