Patricia Schultz, author of the immensely popular travel tome 1,000 Places To See Before You Die, just updated her book and announced the launch of an iPad app. The cool tool has interactive features such as photo sharing and Facebook linking. There’s also the option to get recommendations on future trips based on your likes, dislikes and previous travels.
Patricia rounded up some of her top honeymoon destinations. And guess what? We love them too! Here’s what we have to say:
Botswana
Patricia Says: Spot the “big five” (rhinos, hippos, buffalos, elephants and lions) from the comfort of your luxuriously rustic safari tent. Enjoy dinner under the stars.
Bridal Guide Says: Our own travel editor chose Botswana as her personal honeymoon location! Check out the video!
Rajasthan, India
Patricia Says: Go back in time to India’s golden age with a stay in some of the country’s most opulent palaces.
Bridal Guide Says: A stay at any one of the region’s lavish hotels guarantees you’ll feel like royalty. Bonus: The ultimate palace, the Taj Mahal, is located here. Travel editor Jenna also found the country amazingly intoxicating. Read her story.
Anguilla, Caribbean
Patricia Says: Unparalleled beaches, a plethora of excellent restaurants and a range of accommodation styles (from of-the-minute-trendiness and low-profile glamour to affordable and comfy) make this Caribbean island a go-to for romance.
Bridal Guide Says: It’s a foodies-heaven. And the sparkling white, sand beaches can’t be beat. Check out our reviews.
French Polynesia aboard the Paul Gauguin
Patricia Says: Cruise from the main island of Tahiti to a dozen of the region’s screen-saver-worthy outposts. Stops include a visit to magical Bora Bora and the only recently discovered Marquesas.
Bridal Guide Says: You’ll cruise crowd-free across the island region that inspired the works of Gauguin. Swim, kayak and snorkel in water so brilliant, you won’t believe your eyes. See our review. And land-based honeymoons in Tahiti are just as exciting.
Little Palm Island The Keys, Florida
Patricia Says: Accessible only by boat from mainland Florida, a visit here feels far-flung without the jet lag. It’s postcard perfect and gloriously off-the-grid.
Bridal Guide Says: Leave your passport at home and stroll the length of this tiny isle—just the two of you. The elite spot is blissfully secluded. Find more of our favorite domestic honeymoon destinations here.
Tuscany, Italy
Patricia Says: A romantic stay in a medieval stone village, just outside of Siena, is a movie-moment come to life. Or rent your own villa for the ultimate romantic experience.
Bridal Guide Says: Keep your eyes peeled for our top picks in an upcoming issue!
