Southern girls (or even those just at heart), have we got a treat for you...
By: Stefania SainatoBales of hay, cowboy boots, and rib-sticking barbecue food aren’t the first things that come to mind when we think of bridal showers. However, when we spotted Marcella's Texas-sized bash on the blog Inspired by This, we were converted. It had sentimental value: The bride-to-be met her fiancé on a plane as they both flew to Texas.
Bridesmaid (and photographer) Brandi Welles transported California guests to the Lone Star State with a Western-themed invitation and wardrobe recommendation. ("Everyone should own a pair of cowboy boots," said Marcella.) At the party, they were asked to fill out blank-sign in cards, which only added to the merriment. "I really enjoyed reading what the guests had to say about my fiance Alex and I. I tried guessing who said what and they made me laugh!"
When it was time to open presents, one gift in particular brought it all home for the bride—wine bottles with notes for future special occasions in the couple’s married life. "I got about halfway through the first card before I started to cry...it just hit me when I started to read about all these milestones I would be sharing with my future husband, for the rest of my life. I felt like 'this is really happening.'"
