"Wedding Wars" Episode 1 Recap

Last night, tons of brides-to-be tuned in to watch VH1's latest reality show, Wedding Wars, which airs on Monday nights at 9 PM. The competition-meets-elimination show features 12 engaged couples, including Johnny and Celestria (left), who arrived at the luxurious Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii only to later find out they'll be staying in lean-tos on a remote island. With only rice and beans (and of course, some red and white wine) as sustenance, the fiancees duke it out each week for a giftlike last night's bridal party outfitting by Mori Lee. But the fun ends when the couples next compete in a security challenge for immunity and the chance to spend one more week on the island . The ultimate prize?  A $100,000 dream destination wedding and honeymoon. Now we'd even fight tooth-and-nail for that. Bridal Guide checked in with last night's eliminated couple (as we will every week), Johnny and Celestria, to get the inside scoop on their short stay.

The Los Angeles-based duo, who expected a "big house full of castmates," said Celestria, was in for a brutal surprise upon learning the show's real premise and true accomodations—the oh-so-lovely lean-to's. "I felt like my stomach had just dropped on a roller coaster," said Johnny of being told. But because they were only allowed to pack an overnight bag before discovering their new home, practically no one was prepped. "We packed the tiny hotel soap thinking it would save space," said Johnny, and Celestria added that "most girls didn't even have a razor." (Um, TMI?) Being totally unprepared didn't stop the couple from establishing multiple—and conflicting—alliances, but it did stop the couple from moving on, as they were eliminated by the majority of their peers. Although Johnny and Celestria still have yet to wed, they still retain one "fond" memory of Wedding Wars: "A centipede crawled across both of our faces, said Johnny. "It was about a foot long." Aw, how romantic?
