Shake It Up

What’s better than a refreshing cocktail in the afternoon served up by a handsome fellow? Not much, if you ask me—or the rest of the Bridal Guide staff! We had the pleasure of hosting Jonathan Pogash, acclaimed NYC-based master mixoligist and the brains behind many of the top cocktail menus in the city. He shook his stuff (well, really his shaker) and introduced us to three new flavors of Smirnoff vodka: melon, Tuscan lemonade and melon:

Not only did he school us in the history of vodka and bar lingo, he made us three fabulous but easy cocktails.

Melon “tini”

the melontini

1.5 oz. Smirnoff melon vodka
Splash of pineapple juice
Combine ingredients, shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a fresh honeydew or cantaloupe ball.

Pomegranate Limon

1.5 oz. Smirnoff pomegranate vodka
4 oz. lemonade
Pour into a tall glass over ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

Smirnoff Tuscan Lemonade

This is the easiest of all—it’s ready to serve! It combines the classic taste of Smirnoff No 21 with Limoncello liqueur and a touch of citrus. Jonathan recommends keeping it in the freezer so it’s nice and chilled.

After Jonathan showed us the professional way to mix drinks, he gave us a shot at it. Susan and I weren’t as professional as he was, but we had a laugh trying:

As Jonathan emphasized, signature wedding cocktails don’t have to be expensive. The recipes above were delish and only included TWO ingredients! The Tuscan flavor is as simple as opening the bottle.
