Attention all foodies! I’ve been toying with one of Cuisinart’s newest additions: the Elite Collection 14-cup Die Cast Metal Food Processor. Ever since I embraced the slow cooker, I’ve been channeling my inner-appliance-using self.
I’ll be honest, I’ve always been a little afraid of these bad boys, with all their bells and whistles. I know they can make life easier, but I could never quite figure out how. So I went to the source—cuisinart.com and checked out the recipe section. Chicken stir-fry with cashews sounded yummy, so I headed to the store to get my supplies. Usually when making stir-fry, I go straight to the prepared produce section and pay extra (in NYC, a lot extra) to have everything pre-cut. Not today. I’ll spare you all the details, but the garlic and ginger were minced, and the jicama, carrots, scallions, red pepper and chicken were sliced and diced in less than 15 minutes. No kidding.
This model has three different-sized nested work bowls (all with pour spouts and measuring lines), which make it super easy to multi-task. It comes with stainless shredding and slicing discs, and three blades for chopping/mixing and making fresh dough. The electronic touch pad is effortless: on, off, pulse and dough. And in NYC, something as simple as a retractable cord makes a huge impact on how much I’ll use it. I prefer the die-cast metal ($299), but the Elite is also available in a black or white finish for $279.
This is a classic, convenient appliance that should be on every food-lovers registry. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll create, and your beau will be impressed. Cheers!
