Ask the Expert: Urvi Prunier of Tejani Jewelry

Tejani Jewelry Brooch Main Image

I usually devote this weekly column to accessorizing a specific gown—like high neckline challenges and simple dress styling solutions—but a reader question this week really piqued my interest. Jeanine, a 28-year-old bride from Nevada, Tweeted @bridalguidemag her burning bridal question: "How can I incorporate my grandmother's vintage brooch into my modern wedding-day look?" Well, Jeanine, lucky for you, Urvi—and Tejani—stock a ton of beautiful brooches that can add an extra-special something to your gown or entire bridal ensemble. We asked Urvi about all things pinnable.

Whether you have inherited grandma’s brooch and it's become a must-wear or you chose to wear it simply because it belonged to her, brooches are a great addition to your wedding-day attire. And don't forget, it can also serve as your "something borrowed" or "something old." Not to fear, though, there are many ways to incorporate a brooch to complement your wedding-day look.
Depending on the size of the piece, you can wear the brooch as an accessory to your gown's sash and to complement your other jewelry. If your gown doesn't have a sash or belt, my personal favorite way to use a brooch is to pin it on as an elegant extra to a satin or silk clutch. Talk about upping the bling factor! Pins can also dress up a plain bridal shoe. If you're rocking a shorter hem, it's the perfect way to show off your fabulous new shoes!

If you love the look of a brooch but don't have grandma's with you, check out my three favorites:

Best for a the classic bride, this pearl-and-rhinestone brooch looks elegant pinned to a shoe. (Style BB07; $75).

If you're feeling the edgy and modern vibe for your wedding-day look, try this one on a sash. (Style BB13; $110).

For an super-romantic feel, pin this brooch on just about anywhere—the floral scrolling is simply divine. (Style BB11; $150.)

Until next week's styling challenge,
Urvi Prunier
